Why our environment is important to us...

LEAP - Glaisfer riverWe are Llangynidr Environment Action Project (LEAP) and our aim is to reduce the carbon footprint of the village and increase awareness of the problems of climate change.

We are a lively village with many young families and others moving in and we want to make sure our village is a sustainable place to live in for present and future generations.

We promote ways of helping the environment and reducing waste / emissions - things that all of us can do to reduce our emissions to help meet government targets and help households save money on energy costs too. We are also working on a micro hydro generation scheme for the village, the Glaisfer project.

Join us

It's easy to join us. Just drop us an email, or come along to a meeting – our meeting dates are listed in our news section. Membership costs just £1 and is open to everyone living in and around Llangyndir. Find out more about our activities here.

Living more sustainably

We can offer practical advice on energy-saving measures for your home and we organise community litter picks, recycling at Llangynidr Show, talks and walks.

We also offer free, low-energy lightbulbs to Llangynidr residents – please get in touch if your supply is running low!

Generating power in Llangynidr

In addition LEAP is working to get a micro hydro generation project off the ground in Llangynidr – this will benefit everyone in the village as profits will be ploughed back into the community.

Why we need to act

Energy saving is important to us all in times of rising fuel bills – but saving energy and reducing emissions is also important for our community and the wider world.

We can all do our bit to help meet targets for reducing emissions. Read more about why we need to act on climate change.

Energy facts for schools

We have a page of useful Energy Facts aimed at school children for use in their school projects and homework.

You'll find links to other useful sources of information and you can even calculate your own carbon footprint.
